Gosh I love this trend, and it’s honestly such perfect timing. 2016 was a year that changed me. 🩷

I had to pack up my life, say goodbye to a city, job, and people that I loved, to move from Chicago to North Carolina. It was not my choice, and while I knew it was the right one, to say it was hard is a gigantic understatement.

Hardly anyone knew the depth of a dark place I was in, mentally, and I had to dig myself out of that hole alone, deeply relying on my faith. It was a year of firsts, lots of changes, and unlocking a new chapter. If I could go back in time I’d give her a giant hug, because she didn’t even realize she was embarking on what would be one of the hardest, but most necessary and growth-filled, decades imaginable. ✨

2016… the year I had to wear scrubs on my birthday, which solidified the fact I will never work a job that requires them. 🫠

It feels like a lifetime ago, and it actually is. I’m not the same person I was then, and I wouldn’t want to be.

In many ways I feel like 2026 will be similar, but this time it is my choice, I’m well equipped for the changes I’m craving, and I fully trust in what God has for me! 🎉🌈

 Then suddenly your outfit feels intentional instead of overwhelming. My favorite days involve an explosion of color, but sometimes keeping it streamlined feels joyful. 🌈

Last year was long, full of shedding and deep growth. I felt dim for a significant portion of it, and had to fight each day for my light to shine. While it was challenging, it was incredibly necessary in order to move forward. It makes me increasingly more excited to dance into 2026 with a renewed spirit, faith, and colorful boldness.

My words for this year are Alive, Bloom, & Magic! In my classic extra-ness I always choose three words for a year and pray intently over their meaning along with God’s plan for me.

I am so ready to feel ALIVE in my life again.. in the day to day, with a spark that ignites everyone around me. I want to truly BLOOM in full color like never before, while watching the MAGIC unfold. Flowers have to be alive in order to bloom, and a field of colorful blossoms is full of magic!

When I was young, my Nanny gave me a popcorn tin every December full of tissue paper wrapped gifts for the 12 days of Christmas.

I didn’t care at all what was in those precious packages, it was about the tradition and her gesture that became one of my most treasured gifts and memories. In fact, I still have the popcorn tin these 25+ years later, and store ornaments in it.

The past handful of years have honestly consisted of very weird holiday seasons, and not necessarily what I would have chosen.

This year my mom decided to recreate my favorite tradition by sending a box of goodies numbered for the days of December. Sometimes it truly is about the little things. 🩷

Also so fitting that the box was late, which meant I got to open several at once and the first one I pulled out was a “Merry & Bright” banner. A sweet God wink, some holiday magic and a dose of colorful whimsy! 🎄🌈
